It has been way TOO long since I made a blog. Well, today is the beautiful first day of June of 2014! Yes, new century is here & Summer is pretty much here. Our Wasatch Mountains still have snow here and there. I went and visited Snowbird with my mom and few of my sisters over the weekend during Memorial Weekend. Boy, was it so cold but oh so gorgeous!
Michael, still unemployed, but we LOVE to have him home for many reasons!!! He is always here!!
Nick just completed his sophomore year at Hillcrest High School, (My Alumni). He has been involved in a lot of organizations such as: Dance Company (only guy!); Shakespeare Team & Dance Duo Team (Dance Duo - won 2nd place!!/ Shakespeare - won 1st place for Ensemble Team Competition & tied for 2nd "3 -way" place for Sweepstakes Competition); Pit Singer (Tower Singer) for HHS's Musical "The Wiz"; Region/State Team for Theater/Musical (won Superior at Region & State & Team won 2nd place @ State); auditioned and made Resolve (HHS Capella Singing Group); got nominated & recognized at CALlie's Awards at HHS (CALlie's is 'Change A Life' that Theatre & Stage Crew came up with to nominate, recognize & awarded those who works/worked/involved in performing arts) .... It was an inspiring event to attend! He also choreographed a dance piece about Deaf Community for the Dance Concert (it was so inspired, as it was from his own experience as KODA (Kid of Deaf Adults), to see the dance piece along with the music that was so high/loud in bass as 'in Deaf's ears that they can feel the beats and observe the movements & signs and see by his story); he also created & choreographed a dance piece for PTA's Reflections ' Truth ' which he won an Award of Excellence (like 1st place) in High School, Region & State which led to National Level them he then won an Award of Merit (3rd place!!). Yep, a lot for this guy. Since I missed out for the past almost 2 years!! Oy!
He is now 16 years old! Just celebrated with his closed friends last night! He hasn't gotten his license YET. As he says, he is too busy... But he has been practicing. I think he is too gentleman ;)
Nick made the Dance Company again for Junior Year (again, only guy ;) ) ..... He has a lot of goals for his Junior Year such as auditioning for the HHS's Musical this fall & Shakespeare Team.
Parker..... Good news, he is graduating this week, NOT from High School! Not yet! But from 5th Grade/Elementary School!!! Wow, is it that time already!?!! As our school district went through the process change, 6th graders start at Middle Schools & 9th graders start as Freshmen at High School this past year. So yes, Parker will start Middle School this coming Fall as 6th Grader!!
He is phenomenal reader! Like at 12th grade level (he can read about 210 words per minute!) I had to challenge him every once in a while.
He is a sports fans! Especially BASKETBALL! It is his lifetime GOAL to become a Professional NBA Player after playing at one of those good colleges such as BYU, Florida or even Louisville. Yep, he sets his goals that far ahead already!!! Mike (Dad) & I (Mom) are just being very supportive!!!
He still loves to sing, & acting like Nick. He was asking whether or not if that would 'conflict' with basketball during school? Nick has been very supportive and told him usually there's something before and after basketball season. So Parker's pretty excited about that.
One eventful happening just happened. Parker had injured his 'wrist'. As per the doctor, it was a 6 month injury, like 6 months ago, which I thought was last February. Which showed a sprain... But we were told that this injury was very tricky and overlooked even with children. Finally he admitted it was hurting, took him to see his pediatrian, had xray done, unsure, sent to specialist, the doctor did tried to get hold of us few days later, then finally told us of injury - fracture :/ .... Made appt with orthopedic doctor, went and saw him.. Found out one simple bone fractured 'Scaphoid' a bonr between thumb & wrist, and was told, really recommended that he needed to have surgery on the wrist 'ASAP'. So made appt with surgeon next day. Surgery was scheduled the following week. The surgery went well all fixed and taken care of. Even both doctors told him that they will take care him and made sure of ability to use his hand for basketball. And because of his age (11) he will heal very well and be strong. So we are looking forward to great and healthy life!!
Lucas or now he prefers Luke.... Now he is 7. Growing tall, and smart! Day By Day, he is overcomimg his learning disabilities, still struggles sometimes. Mike and I are learning. We are just taking it with one at a times. (delay development) we learned that at school, he s doing great, but usually at home he struggles sometimes. He has alot of favorites.
He was in Little Mermaid as a frog while Nick played as Captain. He had a phenomenal experience and keep wanting to participate as much as he can. He even auditioned for Beauty & the Beast which he didn't make it but good experience. He said he wants to keep trying.
He is now on a great team the Alta Canyon Little League Baseball with Washington Nationals and told us straight, I'm playing Here every year!
He will be in 2nd grade this fall. Yep that means I have 3 sons in 3 schools! Oy vey!
Now back to me.... Since I last reported in September 2012, ALOT had happened to me. You'd say I'm a walking miracles. Why you ask? I'll say these:
Torn ACL & Meniscus
Pulmonary Embolum (Deep Vein Thrombosis - DVT)
Flew LifeFlight
Came home 4 1/2 days later after admitted to ICU (day after Thanksgiving!)
Went through 6 months of physical therapy before surgery
Had knee surgery
Survived 104° Fever after camping trip
Found out I had Iron Anemia & was low in Potassium
Made some changes in diet
Found out I might have Overactive Thyroid
Later learned that I had Goiter :/
Again made few more changes in diet
Then just recent got sick with Aseptic Meningitis (thank goodness it isn't bacterial)
So... Few times over the years, few scares like blood clotting, and my body going through a lot of changes. I have become more aware of it and I try to listen to my body and respect.
I stopped drinking soda/pop all together starting April 1st (no joke!) ... I feel so great! Even I look at it, I don't crave for it, I only crave for chocolate, who wouldn't.
I'm just grateful especially for Mike who has been there for me and he tries to be very supportive and take care of the boys while I take care of myself.
Mike and I currently take care of our sweet nieces and we love them dearly and we have always enjoy their presence and time together. Like we have our boys 'all over again' ;)
I WILL try and do the blog more often.
With lots of LOVES!!
Annie
